The South was calling. Last week Thursday was the WHAT CLIMATE?! exhibition opening at HOTE Galley in Los Angeles. Protecting earth through creative expression was on display. Artists gathered to unite for change.

From the gallery’s website: “…Humans of the Earth (HOTE) is an artist-run Contemporary Art Gallery located in Los Angeles. Our mission is to support artists, offer a platform for visionary projects, and present creative experiences in our community, and abroad. We put on solo exhibitions of our artists, curated group shows, events, and artist talks, as well as collaborations with various institutions, and art interventions in public space.”

My braille pieces WATER, ENVIRONMENT, CLIMATE CHANGE, and EARTH were featured in the exhibit. The standard braille signs have been repurposed altering function. The art serves as a marker questioning how special interests have weakened the natural environment. Citizens must not blindly follow but question, organize, and demand the highest standards preserving planet Earth.

In addition, my artwork CLIMATE CHANGE was featured. President Donald Trump decided to withdraw the USA from the Paris Climate Agreement. According to Trump: “The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese to order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.” The rest of the world will lead fighting to make planet Earth habitable for future generations. Meanwhile, America will be swimming under its own ignorance and denial of science. The Union of Concerned Scientists predict by 2100 the high-end global average range of sea level rise could be 78 inches.

Bea Lamar, a multi-disciplinary Lebanese-American artist, curated the exhibit. Artists include Luciana Abait, Peter Barnard, Andrea Castillo, Andrew Ciminelli, Michael Kenneth Depue, Amy Keeler, Kimberlee Koym-Murteira, Curt Lemieux, Beth McCoy, Kellyann Monaghan, Natalie Moore, Marcha Schagen, Katrin Spiess, and myself.

Dalai Lama: “Climate change is not the concern of just one or two nations. It is an issue that affects the whole of humanity and every living being on this earth.” Climate change is real and not fake news. Art continues to speak truth.
